Ellipsis - Monday Photo Shoot: Fences & What's Behind Them

EMPS #6: Fences And What's Behind Them.
The idea here is to find a fence, hopefully a photogenic one, and share with your photography not just the fence, but what's behind the fence as well.

OK, in accordance with my intent to post more, I'm participating in Ellipsis' Monday Photo Shoot. As noted above, the theme this week is fences. I took this photo of a fence, showing the stairs and brownstone behind it, in December 2006, in Chicago, on the Near North Side. If you want to do the photo shoot yourself, click here.

Love this picture!! The black and white shows so much more that color in a picture like this... to my eyes at least.

Hi Judi :)

Oh my, the picture you chose is magnificent. True art. Black and white was the perfect mode to shoot it in, as it gives it such a timeless fee. The photo reminds me of the wonderful old black and white movies. I can just imagine a whole scene in my mind, and it's quite a story! Well don m'dear! I will be looking forward to seeing more from you!

Always, Carly

What a great shot! I like the black and white effect, it adds an element of mystery and history to most photos, in my mind.

I never think to shoot in black and white. It does tend to make things a little more dramatic. I can feel the cold on my finger tips as I hold on to the railing trying not to slip as I move slowly and carefully up those icy stairs. A lot in this shot. Nice job!

Hi, Black and white so crisp you can almost feel the snow under your feet:)

The contrasts in your shoot fooled my eyes for a minute. I thought it was in color, just a usual gray winter day. Marvellous photo.

I like this one a lot, especially with the snow on the steps. Black and white was definitely the way to go here; it really emphasizes the starkness of the scene.
